Our Rich History

NUTEC ETS Schaefer traces its roots to 1934. In 1997, ETS Schaefer was formed through the merger of Engineered Thermal Systems and Schaefer Brothers, bringing together decades of refractory expertise.

A pioneer in ceramic fiber substitution since the late 1970s, the company developed the first monolithic ceramic fiber lining system and patented the Monster Module™️ in 1983. It later developed additional technologies, including Perm+A+Lining®️ and MonsterLock™.

In 2026, the company was acquired by NUTEC Group and became NUTEC ETS Schaefer.

General Questions Asked by Customers

NUTEC ETS Schaefer provides ceramic fiber products, monolithic lining systems and field services for steel, aluminum, specialty alloys, ceramics, petrochemical, power generation and original equipment manufacturers. Our solutions support furnaces, kilns and other high-temperature equipment operating under demanding industrial conditions.

Yes. Our team evaluates your equipment geometry, operating temperature, process conditions and maintenance requirements to develop an application-specific insulation solution. We support customers with material selection, lining-system design, custom-fabricated components, installation planning and field services.

Ceramic fiber insulation helps reduce heat loss and stored heat because it is lightweight and has low thermal conductivity. When properly selected and installed, it can support faster heating and cooling cycles, lower energy consumption, improved temperature control and greater operating efficiency.

Yes. NUTEC ETS Schaefer provides ongoing technical and field support throughout the lining lifecycle. Our experienced team can assist with inspections, maintenance planning, repairs and future relines to help customers maintain thermal performance, reduce unplanned downtime and extend lining service life.
